Local Artisans Perform and Create at Lehman’s

In response to high gas prices this summer, we’re going local! Lehman’s wants to provide fun, educational events for families who may be staying closer to home this year and are looking for intriguing road trips and short getaways. So, we’ve got several great (free!) events lined up for Saturdays this summer and even into fall. We hope you’ll join us at our retail store in Kidron for some amazing musical performances and interactive demonstrations that let you take a step back into the past – if only for a day!

NOTE: All events are FREE (with ample free parking available), require NO advance reservations and take place at Lehman’s, on the square in Kidron (get driving directions to Kidron).

Lehman’s Local Artisan Festival
When: Saturday, July 12th, 10 am-4 pmNicole Myers pottery
What: A new and exciting venture for Lehman’s (who knows? it may be the “1st Annual”), the festival will feature talented local artisans stationed throughout our store, demonstrating their crafts and some even selling their wares. While we always knew that local talent is alive and well in our area, we had no inkling of the variety and caliber of artisans we’d find just a few miles from our store. More than 15 artists will entertain and delight visitors with musical performances, wood turning, gourd painting, fiber spinning, pottery, painting, rug hooking, woodcarving and even blacksmithing. There’s something for everyone – this is our big summer event you don’t want to miss.

Hammered Dulcimer Performances
When: Saturdays – July 19th, Aug. 9th and Sept. 13th, all 11 am – 2 pmKaren McCurdy
What: Revel in the spirited sounds of the hammered dulcimer as Karen McCurdy performs folk, Celtic and original selections. (Note to newsletter readers: she even plays a piece entitled “The Front Porch Waltz!”) McCurdy is a regionally renowned musician who performs regularly throughout Northeast Ohio in a variety of venues. “I fell in love with the hammered dulcimer the very first time I heard it played,” she says. “The instrument can be light, lively, and even a bit rowdy, or incredibly peaceful and gracious.” Karen has studied hammered dulcimer under the tutelage of several nationally and internationally renowned dulcimists. Don’t miss these special appearances by Karen in our store!

Interactive Demos in the Buggy Barn
When: Selected Thursdays and Saturdays throughout summer
What: Everything from kids’ gardening activities to food preservation demos – check our Event Calendar for dates and details.
