Basic Oatmeal

Eat as is or add toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Cup Oats (not instant or quick cooking oatmeal)
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Milk (or water)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sweeten to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring water (and milk, if using) to a boil.
  2. Add oats and turn down to medium heat; stir occasionally. It will start to thicken and after 5-10 minutes, check for doneness. It should have a nice thick texture and not be runny.
  3. Add in salt and sweeten to taste. Eat as is or add toppings.
