German Soft Pretzels

  • Yield: Makes 1-2 dozen 1x


  • 1 packet quick rise yeast
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 1/2 C. warm water
  • 4 C. flour


  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt and flour. Blend well.
  2. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
  3. Cut off small amount of dough, roll into shapes, and twist into pretzels. Arrange on greased cookie sheets.
  4. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake 15 min at 450 degrees.
