Want a delicious smell that is sure to be a crowd pleaser? Try this recipe from one of our customers. They’re called plow boys and it is a take on pulled pork over baked potatoes.
My toddler (as most are) is a picky eater and she was so excited by this. She got to pick her own toppings and who doesn’t love potatoes? Meanwhile my husband enjoyed the delicious smells coming out of the Dutch oven as the pork cooked. *drool*.
This was such a simple recipe that could be done “quickly”. I put “quickly” in quotes because it does take some time to cook, but the prep work is minimal.
Better yet you can put your own twist on how you like to cook the pork butt as you can’t really go wrong. I followed Tessa’s suggestion in her recipe, and it was delicious. It’s a great recipe that can be adjusted for just a few people to a large crowd.
Here is a note from Tessa Lautzenheiser who submitted the recipe to Lehman’s:
“We are a farm family from eastern Ohio, and this recipe is a favorite meal to bring to the field during harvest season. I bring along different toppings and everyone can customize how they want. It’s easily scaled up or down to feed any number of people and is a simple but hearty one dish meal. I hope you enjoy!”

Ingredients
6 potatoes
Pulled pork cooked to your own preference
BBQ sauce of your choice
Optional toppings: chives, sour, cream, and shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Rub potatoes with olive oil and roll in salt. Bake at 400 degrees until tender (about one hour – time varies depending on the size of the potatoes).
- Top baked potatoes with cooked pulled pork and drizzle with your favorite sauce. Add desired toppings. (My family adds chives, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese.)
Notes
For the pulled pork, you can prepare it however you like. I cooked mine in my Dutch oven with apple vinegar, chicken bouillon, water, garlic, salt and pepper until tender.

Looks, and sounds wonderful, I can’t wait to give it a try. Thanks.
Am going to try this using some pork butt previously pressure canned over mashed potatoes, bet it will taste awesome! Thanks for giving me this idea.
