Hitching Post Mural Finished!

I put the finishing touches on the Lehman’s sign in the mural on Saturday.  As you can see from the photo this gives visitors to the store an opportunity to have some fun by posing at the hitching post.  I’ve already seen several people getting some fun shots with Roy, Rex and the other painted on critters in the Buggy Barn.

If you’d like to see previous blog posts on the painting of this mural and others click here.  When you follow that link you can scroll down to see the progression from a blank wall in the back wall of the Buggy Barn to the completed mural.  In the blog entries I share some of my notes and sketches used to create this.  This mural began as a freehand sketch with chalk on the wall to now, several weeks later, a life sized painting of a team of Amish Work horses.

I will be in the Buggy Barn periodically doing painting demonstrations thru out the season.  During Lehman’s Local Artisan Festival July 12, 2008 other local artist will join me in doing on site demonstrations and offering artwork for sale.  Plan on seeing potters, painters, fiber artists, wood carvers, musicians and sculptors to mention a few.  To see artists profiles go to www.kidronarts.com

Thanks for stopping by!

About Sue Steiner

I am a professional artist living in the Kidron area. With a farming background and my love for animals and anything agricultural it was a natural fit when Lehman's asked me to paint the murals you see at the Kidron store. My biggest project to date was the mural of a life sized team of Amish work horses at the hitching post in the Buggy barn. I have the pleasure of adding to the murals on an ongoing basis as a painting demonstration during store hours on many Fridays. I also have the pleausre of bringing Ohio Arts and Crafts Guild members to the store for a wide variety of demos. You can find the demo schedule on this web site under the Events tab. It is always a pleasure to be in the store meeting new folks. I find Lehman's customers to be the very best, down to earth people! It is also my pleasure to help network with all the talented artists and crafters in the area.

  1. Wow, Sue – that looks so lifelike! Wait, is that a real person standing there or part of the painting? I almost don’t know! Ha ha – keep up the amazing work!

  2. Those horses are awesome – like Sarah says – they look very lifelike, as if they will step off the wall! I would love to come visit — maybe someday we’ll travel that way.

  3. Thank you. I am planning on doing some more artwork of Rex and Roy on a smaller scale as soon as I regroup from working on the big mural and catch up on some other art projects. Check in with me sometime soon and I’ll show you what I’ve got!
