Do you love doing crafts but your friends and family all 
run, or hide them again, when you break out the glue gun or sewing machine? If this is you, and I feel your pain, I have a project that that will calm your friends and family and let your creative juices flow. A simple knotted fleece pillow requires no sewing, produces a very functional item and is easy enough for children to do.
Start simple. For your first pillow it is easier to stick with square or rectangle shapes. As time goes on, you can move on to circles, ovals, and even hearts.
Gather your supplies into one area and get ready to begin. The size of your pillow will depend on the size of your form or, if you are using fluff, how much fluff you have. Polar fleece is the best to use for this project because it doesn’t fray and can be purchased in just about any fabric department. Or, you can cut shapes from existing fleece clothing you may have – a great way to repurpose that old jacket you don’t wear anymore.
Lay out your fabric and place the pillow form onto it. Cut out two pieces of fabric large enough to form a 4 inch border around the form. This border will later become your ties. If you are using fluff, cut out two pieces of fabric the size that you want your pillow and allow for the 4 inch tie border.
Pin your two pieces of fabric together and begin to cut your ties. Your ties should be at least 1 to 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. Place your pillow form in between the two fabrics and begin tying. Start at a corner and work your way around. In no time you will have a finished pillow using nothing but double knots.
For fluff stuffed pillows, follow the same directions for cutting the ties. Begin tying at a corner and continue around until you have a gap large enough for your hand left. Stuff your pillow full of fluff and finish tying it off.
For some added interest to these pillows, you can use two different colors or create animal faces. Use felt, cording, and some simple fabric glue to make a lion or a tiger. Your imagination is really your only limit in this project.
I don’t understand what it is that you tie. You cover the form, but how do you tie the strips around it?
Cut your slits from the edge of the material toward the center of the material (not off the material) – it will be like little fringe all around. Make your little pillow ‘sandwich’ with a piece on top, foam in the middle and a piece on bottom, with the little fringes all around the outside; tie a strip from the top piece to the strip from the bottom piece. There will be little knots all around the pillow when you are done.
