One of the best things about the Christmas season is the time we spend with family. The kids are off school for winter break, cold weather outside makes us want to stay indoors, and the luckiest among us get visits from family that live far away. This comes together to create the perfect opportunity for some fun times and bonding activities.
I love a family game night. I love having fun snacks, laughing, chatting, and spending a cozy evening inside playing games with my favorite people. Game nights can make for some super fun competition, with board games and card games, or can be more laid-back, with puzzles or cooperative games. Here is my recipe for the perfect family game night.
Recipe for Family Game Night
- A cozy home
- A warm fireplace
- Three (or more) game players, preferably in pajamas
- One (or more) board game, card game, puzzle, or any game of the group’s choosing
- An open, flat surface for playing
- Two bags of Amish Country Popcorn, sprinkled with delicious flavors
- One big bowl of salsa (see my recipe below), with a big bowl of tortilla chips on the side
- One mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows for each player
- A dash of healthy competition (can be replaced with a pinch of teamwork for puzzles and cooperative games)
- A handful of laughter and a big scoop of conversation
