Since my last post featured one of my dad’s signature recipes, I thought I would share one of my mom’s this time. There’s almost nothing that sticks with you better for breakfast than a bowl of granola. This is an easy recipe and makes a crunchy, hearty, not-too-sweet breakfast treat. It’s delicious with milk or yogurt, by itself or with other cereal. I like to sprinkle it liberally on my bowl of Cheerios. Try it – I bet you’ll love it!
Mom’s Crunchy Granola
6 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup each of:
- sunflower seeds
- coconut
- wheat germ
- powdered milk
- chopped walnuts
- sliced almonds
- oil
- honey
1 T. cinnamon (optional) or 1tsp. vanilla (depending on flavor preference)
Mix together and spread on 2 greased cookie sheets. Bake about 10-15 minutes at 350F, stirring twice. Be careful not to overbake. After cooling in the pans, add dried cranberries or raisins and store in airtight container.
Note: If you don’t have time or inclination to make your own granola, try ours! Lehman’s All-Natural Gourmet Granola is made in small batches using the finest natural ingredients -Â rolled oats and wheat, brown sugar, growth-hormone-free butter, unsweetened coconut, nuts and whole wheat flour.
