Like most new ventures, we weren’t sure what to expect when we started our Homemade 101 Class Series at our store in Kidron just a few weeks ago. But the response has been very positive, according to Shonda Miller, Lehman’s Retail Marketing Specialist and one of the team members who conceived and planned the series.
“People are so interested in the topics,” she said. “They’re not just showing up, sitting down and receiving the information. They are engaging and asking so many great questions, even lingering afterward to keep conversing with the instructors.”
Each class participant receives a “goody bag” with a Lehman’s catalog, a coupon for a discount on items purchased the day of the class, plus a class-themed giveaway product. For example, at our upcoming liquid soapmaking course, each class member will receive a small vial of essential oil to be used for soapmaking.
“We’re also giving away some fun door prizes based on questions we ask the class, such as who drove the farthest to be there,” Shonda said.
Classes are scheduled throughout 2016 and topics include:
- Gardening
- Canning
- Soapmaking
- Candlemaking
- Homemade cheese, butter and yogurt
- Fermenting sauerkraut, kombucha and pickles
All classes are held at Lehman’s in Kidron in our charming restored buggy barn (located just inside the store entrance). Class size is limited! Click here for a full schedule of Homemade 101 classes.
